Colorado Golf Season

Where did Spring go?

They say that you can play golf 7 months out of the year here because of mild winters and endless sunshine. This last winter however, was challenging because of the record amount of snowfall and cold temps in Montrose and surrounding areas.  It seems like Spring never came, and summer is having a hard time showing up. The snow has melted and now is the time to hit the links at our outstanding golf clubs here in Montrose.

The Bridges Golf and Country Club

The Bridges Golf and Country Club is a Nicklaus Design championship course which offers unobstructed views of the San Juan Mountains. The surroundings offer natural  landscaping with water that attracts many different bird species, bridges all around, and luxury homes. It is a challenging course, that brings golfers from all over to test their skills and enjoy the beauty. The course is in great shape this year, after our very wet winter, and it will continue mature now that it is a little over 10 years old.

If you are not a golfer and want to experience this fabulous place, try having lunch or dinner at Remington’s restaurant at the clubhouse. The patio has a direct view of all of the San Juans and is a popular place for weddings, parties, or romantic dinners. . It is truly a place to visit often. We are so fortunate to have this  world class facility here, and with all of it’s luxury, it still has that local, friendly community feel that we all love about Montrose.

The Links at Cobble Creek

A par 72 championship golf course with lakes and a cobblestone creek, this course is an excellent course for every level of golfer. San Juan views are front and center throughout each hole. The homes are plenty, and are very close to the popular Montrose river trail, where you can bike, hike, and fish.

The clubhouse features a top notch Pro shop, exercise area, and a seperate snack and sandwich eatery for a quick bite or cocktail after your round.

Creekside restaurant is the more formal dining establishment, that features local Colorado faire, and also has a patio for alfresco dining with mountain and golf course views. The cuisine is seasonal and fresh, and the pizza is divine.

Black Canyon Golf Course

Black Canyon is the Montrose city public course and is great for families and golfers of  all abilities. The large mature trees align this park like course, as well as ponds and endless green open fairways. You will see large older homes surrounding the course, that have matured into gorgeous properties. Here you will find some of those coveted “mid century homes’ on large lots that are popular today with home-buyers.

Divot’s restaurant is a great place to get a meal or have a beer anytime, and enjoy the views of this mature course and once again, those mountain views!

The Montrose summer music series is held here and  starts in June, on the driving range, and ends in September. This free event brings out the community to visit with friends while enjoying cool Colorado evenings and great music.

We are truly fortunate to have all three of these outstanding golf course facilities in our small community, and you really must experience them.
